I was inspired by e-sharp’s review of The Future of Us this morning to go to the library for the first time in, well… let’s call it an embarrassingly long time. After checking that my library card still worked (like I said, embarrassingly long time), I picked up three books: The Future of Us (Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler); Lola and the Boy Next Door (Steph Perkins) and The Miseducation of Cameron Post (Emily M Danforth).
As I said in my reblog, I loved Jay Asher’s 2007 novel 13 Reasons Why (although it comes with massive trigger warnings for slut shaming, sexual assault and suicide), and The Future of Us sounds like it has some interesting ideas so I’m looking forward to it. I’m also familiar with Steph Perkin’s work, Anna and the French Kiss is a very enthralling read and I’ve heard good things about Lola. I’m not familiar with Emily Danforth at all, I picked this one off the shelf at random so we’ll see how we go.
