I’ve been sort of struggling to get through “The Casual Vacancy” (JK Rowling’s new novel for grown ups). I’d owned the book for two weeks and hadn’t made it past page 50. This had me worried that it was boring and unmagical and Harry Potter was some sort of fluke.
This evening, however, I read half the novel in one sitting.
Guys. It gets good. Holy shit.
My mom and I read the first Harry Potter together back in the dark ages of the mid-90s and I’m pretty sure she had to force me to continue past the first chapter. Maybe this is just JK Rowling’s method of weeding out the weak or something.
The point being, guys, this book is fucking awesome. It’s a huge departure from Harry Potter in the best possible way, despite the previous paragraph.
So yeah. Go buy yourself a copy. Now.
